Baby Basics, Inc. is a 100% volunteer-run non profit organization that provides free diapers to babies and toddlers of working poor families in South Boston, Needham and Dedham. The families that Baby Basics serves are known as the "working poor", families who in many ways remain hidden to the government, their communities and the rest of the country. With one foot in the working world, they are barely able to make ends meet and unable to access government help. These families remain in constant struggle as they straddle the poverty line and try to create a better life for their children. Diapers are a necessity for all young children, yet these families are often forced to decide between spending money on diapers and spending it on other things like gas, electric bills and even food.
